S. John Granmayeh

John Granmayeh joined the PMOPA Board in 2020 and has served as Board President since November 2022.

John co-acquired an M600 in 2019 and has nearly 500 hours of flying time in his plane.  He obtained his commercial rating in his M600 in 2021. He and his family have travelled in their M600 far and wide in the Lower 48 United States, and also to Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.

As with many PMOPA members, John joined PMOPA prior to acquiring his plane and was warmly welcomed by the collegial and supportive PMOPA community.

Prior to the M600, John co-owned a Cirrus SR22.

John’s passion for aviation traces back to his early childhood, when he always demanded that his family’s drive to commercial airports start hours in advance so that he could watch the planes arrive and depart (which one could do back during the pre-TSA days). He bought his first FLYING magazine at age 12 and, soon after, had a subscription which he has maintained nearly continuously since then.

John finally realized his aviation dream during his law school days and, prior to graduating in 1996, earned his PPL while flying Grumman Cheetahs and Tigers at Houston’s Hobby Airport (back when flight schools were tolerated at Hobby).

Since 1997 John has worked as an oil and gas transactional attorney in the USA and in numerous international locations. He is currently the General Counsel of a Houston-based geoscience software start-up.

John is the proud father of 5 daughters, who keep him and his wife, Olesya, quite busy.
